Open House

One of the important events at International Conference ‘Vastu Panorama -2000’ was ‘Open House` for general public on 13″‘ Feb 2000 at 5 pm

Public awareness and inquisitiveness can be judged by the mass participation of the public marked during the Open House session. The large number of questions put forth by them (about 450-500) were replied by the Vastu experts on dias Er Pankaj Agrawal. Indore, Col Tyagi from Calcutta and Ar Sirdeshpande from Bangalore. The session was well conducted by Er Jitesh Agrawal, DrVinod Naneria and Dr Anil Vijaywargiya by compiling the questions in various groups and asking the experts one by one.

Er Pankaj Agrawal answered one question raised from floor about the nature of perameters governing the Parliament House and its effect as per Vastu. According to him the Parliament House (PH) is faced by Vastu defects, which does not mean the place has to be changed or shifted. The desired effect can be achieved by balancing the energies inside and outside the premises and this will have an overall effect on the attitude and out come.

Ar Sirdeshpande, on the lighter side, added by saying that the Vastu of the PH is good for the members and bad for the country. This raised a humor in the house.

In reply to another question, whether there is a necessity of an architect or Vastu Shastri for any construction, Er Pankaj Agrawal laid stress on the requirement of an architect to be equipped with the technical know-how for shaping the spaces as per Vastu rules. Ar Sirdeshpande added to this that with an additional knowledge of Vastu Shastra, which is our ancient architecture, an architect can bring the buildings to life, culture and close to nature, giving the benefits to its inmates.

Col Tyagi explained on questions related to placement of rooms, doors, windows, beds etc. in a house, that, the sun is the source of all energies on earth required for living. It is necessary to obtain morning sunlight in the premises as well as magnetic energy from north. Sunlight contains large quantities of disinfectant qualities as well as Vitamins necessary for health. It is, therefore, necessary to provide more open spaces and large number of openings in the north and the eastern sides. Southwest portion receives strong and harmful radiations of sun in afternoon and evenings, all year round. To protect form this, strong and higher walls should be provided on south west side of house.

Our earth being a magnetic body and our body containing iron (hemoglobin) in the blood, magnetism is permitted to flow through the body. Our head being the north pole and foot South Pole, it is necessary that head is not kept towards North Pole of earth and is kept in south to have proper magnetic flow in body.

In reply to other questions, it was said that house constructed for head of family as per Vastu, will provide healthy environment to the children also because Vastu balances the built environment with human energies. It means Vastu suggests openings on east and north to get advantage of sun energy, magnetic energy. Opening at center of house help in getting cosmic energy.

What distance should be maintained from places of worship, it was informed that the residential houses should be constructed minimum 50 meters away from places of worship. Regarding use of central portion it was informed that the central portion of the building/ flat can be used as drawing room.

In reply toothier questions, it was informed that a house should be rectangular in shape, may have more height on south and west and lower on north and east. East and north should have small plants where-as trees can be planted on west and south. Electrical poles should be minimum 25M away from the house. Small or big plot should have proper proportion between length, width and height of a house constructed on it.

To further questions it was replied that house opposite to T Junction of roads should not have front door opposite] to the junction. Basement should be avoided, however it can be constructed in northeast portion of a building. Marble can be used in flooring and kitchen, however. Granite stone should not be used inside of a building since it has high radiation of negative energy. Wood is a natural material and should be used extensively. Best location for underground tanks, wells, and tube-wells, swimming pools is north, east and northeast. Whereas for overhead tank, location in west, southwest and south.

In reply to south facing houses it was informed that even south facing houses are good provided door locations, electrical installation are at proper places and all other factors controlling human energies are in balance with environment and nature.

Regarding multi – story buildings it was informed that each unit is independent and should provide required energy to the inmates. The unit should not work as a plastic bag. The houses constructed in villages with mud mortar and thatched roof are good from health point of view, being close to nature.

It was informed that there is no limitation in Vastu Shastra being close to nature and we say nature is perfect. A code for construction of buildings as per Vastu Shastra will be prepared by the National body of The Institution of Vastu Science (India).

To other questions it was replied that Vastu rules arc based on climate, topography, wind directions and planet effects. It is not – same for India, China, and Europe. America etc. As such different religions developed in different countries have different rules, but principle is same, i.e. keep close to the nature, balancing environment. In India it is Vastu, in China/ Japan it is Feng Shui, in European countries/USA it is building biology. Because of external invasion on our country and culture in last ten centuries, this art went in to the background. Now since last two decades, this science has come out in light. With modern research and its application, people have started taking benefit of this science.

Regarding welfare of our country through Vastu it was informed that this Institute aims at training of Architects it Engineers in this field so that common public may get benefit of this science. With Vastu awareness, municipal corporations with proper planning will develop narrow and shabby areas of towns/ cities. For general awareness of public, print and electronic media has to play a vital role. This Institution will always be producing suitable literature/ books for the benefit of public.
